Emma

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. She was moved to Oxfordshire at the age of five and enrolled in at the Dragon School. At the age of six, Emma was aware she would like to be an actress. For a number of years she studied at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied the art of acting and dancing. Her performances had been in a variety of Stagecoach and school productions when she was 10 years old. In 1999 casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman told Emma along together with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had eight consecutive auditions. The release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. It was the year's top grossing film, breaking records at the opening and first weekend. It was highly acclaimed by critics, as were the performances of its three young stars. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Then Emma was shortlisted for five awards for her role in the film and was awarded the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in an Feature Film.
